Osborn Engineering is partnering with Contour Companies to develop a 97-acre site poised the be the state's largest multi-family development. The project includes the adaptive reuse of the former Northland Mall and features 2,885 residential units integrated with commercial spaces. Services provided by Osborn include Structural, MEP, and Fire Protection Engineering. Contour Companies is investing at least $285 million into Phase I, which consists of 1,339 new apartments and 95,000 SF of commercial space within 14 five-story mixed-use buildings. During this phase, the historic Northland Shopping Center will be restored to its original appearance and the ground floor retail spaces will be converted into 254 loft residences. In addition, the old Hudson’s store will be converted into 337,000 SF of commercial space for food, home furnishings, and entertainment. Phase II will consist of additional mixed-use residential buildings, townhomes, a pond, and other amenities. The landmark power plant will be converted into a clubhouse and the Northland water tower will be preserved.
