Osborn Engineering provided LEED Enhanced Commissioning services for the new 28,000 SF corporate headquarters facility for Nordson Corporation. With direct operations in 30 countries worldwide, Nordson Corporation is the world’s leading manufacturer of systems that apply adhesives, sealants and coatings during manufacturing operations. Osborn’s Commissioning services met the requirements for Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning per the LEED-NC (New Construction – Version 3) guidelines including review of Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR) and Basis of Design (BOD) documents, review and backcheck of design documents at the 50% and final design submissions, as well as concurrent contractor submittal reviews. In addition, Osborn provided shop drawing reviews, functional testing, maintenance staff training verification, preparation of the Commissioning Systems Manual and a 10-month warranty review for each commissioned system.

 

The facility was awarded LEED Silver certification due to sustainable features including energy optimized lighting, HVAC and water systems, a partial green roof planted with native vegetation, a parking lot and landscape design that mitigates storm water generation, reflective white roofing materials that reduce heat island effects, and regionally sourced and recycled construction materials.
