DOE-NETL Life Safety Audit
National Energy Technology Laboratory | Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania
Osborn Engineering conducted a Fire Protection Appraisal and Life Safety Code Audit of 21 buildings at the Department of Energy (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) facility in Pittsburgh. The purpose of appraisal was to provide information on the fire protection features of the site, assessment of risk exposure, and summary of emergency response resources. The audit included a review of office buildings, laboratories, storage buildings, hazardous materials storage facilities, and other hazards for compliance with applicable building codes, fire codes, DOE-NETL directives, and NFPA codes and standards, including Life Safety Code (NFPA 101). The appraisal also included reviews of the facility’s existing pre-fire plans and fire loss potential determinations, including Maximum Credible Fire Loss (MCFL) and Maximum Possible Fire Loss (MPFL).
