K-8 Charter School
Academy of Warren | Warren , Michigan
Osborn Engineering is providing Structural, MEP, Fire Protection, and Technology services for the Academy of Warren, a K-8 public charter school in Warren, MI, which serves families in eastern Detroit. The scope includes renovations to two buildings (85,000 SF and 15,000 SF), a building addition (2,000 SF), and a new inflatable dome fieldhouse.
Building A
The Academy of Warren’s Building A is an existing 85,000 SF building to be renovated for grades K-6. The renovation includes new skylights for daylighting to classrooms, a new commercial-grade kitchen, a new media center, a new audio-visual studio, a new computer lab, a new rock wall, a new black box theater, renovated classrooms, renovated offices and new collaborative common areas throughout. Osborn will make modifications to existing HVAC equipment, plumbing systems, electrical, paging, security, data, sprinkler heads, fire alarm systems throughout. New equipment includes a new kitchen hood, several new single-occupancy restrooms, a new grease interceptor, new LED lighting, and some new HVAC equipment. Osborn designed new structural supports for skylights to provide natural light at multiple collaboration spaces throughout the school.
Building B
The Academy of Warren’s Building B is an existing 15,000 SF building currently vacant to be completely renovated for grades 7 and 8. The renovation includes new skylights for daylighting to classrooms, a new science and art classroom, and renovated classrooms. Osborn Engineering will make modifications to existing plumbing systems, electrical, paging, security, data, sprinkler heads, fire alarm systems throughout, relocated FDC connection, relocated gas service. New equipment includes all new HVAC equipment, new single-occupancy restrooms, new LED lighting, and new science classroom sinks. Osborn designed new structural supports for skylights to provide natural light for the collaboration space in the school.
Field house
Osborn provided basic utility services for the Academy of Warren’s new fieldhouse. The fieldhouse required a new electrical and new natural gas service. A new power distribution, including natural gas generator and emergency power distribution, serve the new fieldhouse.
Field house Annex Building
The Academy of Warren’s Field house annex building is a new 2,000 SF building with new outdoor storage for lawn equipment, new concessions, new group restrooms, and an office. New equipment includes a new fire line connected to an existing line in Building B and new plumbing services tied into existing Building B. Also included is a new oil separator for an outdoor storage room, a new DOAS unit, new LED lighting, new power, a new gas tankless water heater, a new fire alarm, and new technology. This building serves all amenities for the field house.
