WRAL New Transmission Facility
Capital Broadcasting Company | Raleigh , North Carolina
Osborn Content Media + Technology Group is providing the design services for the construction of a new transmitter building adjacent to the existing facility at WRAL/WRAZ, Capital Broadcasting Company’s affiliate stations in Raleigh, North Carolina. The need for a new facility comes in the wake of the recent government FCC Repack Program, which allows the stations to obtain new equipment. To maintain “on-air” broadcasting during the transition a new facility to house the equipment needs to be constructed.
The proposed building is 32’ wide x 54’ long totaling 1,728 SF and will be located on the southeast side of their existing transmission facility. This one-story building is approximately 20’ in height, and the architecture will match the existing facility’s metal panel exterior. In addition there will be a new steel A-Frame Ice-Bridge structure over the new building to protect it from ice falling off the transmission tower. This new Ice Bridge will match and connect with the existing steel Ice Bridge.
Osborn is providing full service A/E design and construction administration services for this project.
