Why is technology critical to Education? The strategic application of technology can provide both educators and students greater flexibility, real-time feedback and opportunity for new innovative teaching models. Simply put, the flipped or “Steve Jobs” classroom arms the student with tablets loaded with custom applications which enable them to access and share information quickly within a group or remotely. Lectures can be broken down into “podcasts” for smaller groups to provide in-depth review of a lecture. While in a small group, the podcast can be paused and portions repeated to allow for discussion between classmates and/or teacher. A more traditional concept is for smaller (and even larger) lecture rooms to be equipped with monitors utilizing “smart” boards in lieu of white boards to allow a dynamic sharing of information and ideas from one students tablet to another. This is all overlaid with a custom audio solution to assure the students’ comprehension of the lecture.
