Westerville High School
Osborn Engineering provided a full engineering design services for Phase 1 renovations to Westerville South High School. The project includes a 35,000 SF gymnasium addition, 10,000 SF classroom addition and the conversion of an auxiliary gymnasium into a two story classroom wing of roughly 30,000 SF. Subsequent phases will include classroom renovations throughout the remaining 254,000 SF of the existing building.
Osborn is providing civil, structural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, technology, and fire protection engineering design services. The fire protection scope includes sprinkling the entire facility in a phased manner and requisite upgrades to the fire alarm system to meet current code. Complicating the phasing aspect of the project was the asbestos containing materials in the 1959 and 1960 portions of the building, as well as the various forms of construction used in the subsequent 1969, 1972, 1987, and 1991 additions and improvements. Civil work includes modifications for the new additions, parking lot expansion, storm water management, and gas line replacement and reconfiguration for the campus consisting of the high school, field house and Blendon Middle School.
