Riverside Local Schools
Osborn is providing civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology engineering services for Madison (K-5) and Concord (K-5) Elementary Schools. The project includes the design of two new elementary schools on separate sites. The project is pursuing LEED Silver. Both schools are being designed utilizing BIM and utilizing clash detection for coordination during design. The sites both require on-site sanitary treatment systems which are being located in the back portions of the site behind the athletic fields.
The building design is incorporating energy recovery on all of the toilet exhaust systems, variable speed pumping, LED lighting systems throughout, and kitchen exhaust systems. Part of the building will be constructed as a storm shelter for protection from tornadoes and other severe weather in accordance with the ICC standard for storm shelter design. The buildings will be part of a campus DDC control network and available to control all building systems from a remote internet browser.
Osborn provided fire suppression design criteria and fire alarm system design for two separate sites. Analysis of local water supply data and hydraulic calculation were performed to appropriately size the incoming fire service and coordinate the location of all fire hydrants and fire department connections with the Civil design team. The design criteria drawings included the detailed design of the fire service entrance, room by room hazard classifications, feed main routing through the building, and full specifications.
