This Master Plan for the Rinzler Athletic Complex (NCAA D1) will guide the future development of all future soccer and outdoor recreation facilities for Wright State University at the main campus. It will ensure the success of a NCAA Division 1 intercollegiate soccer and student recreation program. The initial phase 1 facilities program included an entry pavilion, event plaza, two artificial turf fields, grass berm seating and landscaping. The new pavilion houses the team rooms, public restrooms, concessions and support facilities, while the event plaza services all the adjacent sports venues and is the focal point for game-day and tournament activities.
This NCAA Division 1 soccer stadium features the latest in synthetic turf fields using a monofilament pile fibers, a high performance infill of acrylic coated sand and a shock attenuation pad. The turf system delivers robust performance and superior playing characteristics representing new technology, as it has already has been awarded FIFA 2-star certification in Europe. Phase 2 has been started with the replacement of the baseball field with new FieldTurf. The future phase 2 will include a new home grandstand, varsity locker room building, six tennis courts, and two recreation softball fields, field maintenance building.
