Osborn, in conjunction with Sasaki & Associates, Inc., provided all engineering services for the design of a new 60,000 square foot Athletic and Fitness Center for Bluffton University.
The facility includes new athletic administration offices, exercise and weight lifting facilities, varsity sports and public locker rooms, a sports medicine and treatment center, and a new competition gymnasium for varsity and intramural sports. The facility was designed to achieve LEED® Silver or Gold certification standards. The project was designed using Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology and features many engineering design challenges including a complex flood plain analysis for the site. Innovative design features include a rainwater harvesting system and daylight harvesting controls. In addition to providing all engineering services, Osborn also provided fundamental commissioning of the building.
