UH Ahuja Medical Center
This facility is a new regional medical campus that included a 360,000 SF hospital and bed tower, a 69,000 SF medical office building and a 15,000 SF central plant. Phase 1 provided a 244-bed patient care tower, radiology facilities both invasive and non-invasive, surgery and cardiology procedure facilities and a 28 bay emergency department, along with the support spaces such as PACU, Surgery Pre-Post beds, Pre-Admission testing, etc.
Osborn was responsible for the design of all the technology systems for the entire campus project, including voice/data, cable TV, nurse call, public address paging, intercom, access control, video surveillance, time clocks and audio visual. Among the many technological features of the facility is a regional data center for University Hospitals housed in the lower level of the podium. The data center also acts as the data and voice core of the campus. Furthermore, the data center is strategically positioned so that as Phases 2 and 3 are constructed adding an additional 900,000 SF a single existing wall can be removed allowing the data center square footage to be increased to accommodate the future expansion.
